They think that all the problems are solved by making things better for middle class people in the US.

Roughly 100% of people who think capitalism can be reformed are only concerned about what happens to people in wealthy countries.

Remember:

The problem isn’t that capitalism has failed, it’s that it’s working as designed.

Saying it’s failed leaves open the possibility that it can be fixed. Acknowledging that it’s working as designed makes it clear that it can’t.

I’m also sick of people saying they oppose various kinds of oppression, work to fight it, and warn others about how fascists use entryism and then refuse to stop hanging out with and promoting people who endorse all of that because “he’s a cool guy” or “he’s harmless, he just makes funny memes”

The failure of most of the fediverse to take the writing on the wall about places like bofa seriously while worrying about whether it’s welcoming enough to rich white dudes is 100% par for the course.

It doesn’t have to be, but there would have to be some systemic changes for that to happen and even the people who supposedly believe in those changes want to actually make them for themselves

Can you imagine if there were this much concern for women being harassed on the fediverse?

Things that don’t make me feel safe on masto: Seeing the encouragement, boosting, and promotion of abusive users and the instances they fester in.

Things that do make me feel safe: Seeing a toxic guy run away from the fediverse because he didn’t like people confronting him about abusive garbage he publicly promotes.

The cries for not being mean to people like that sound so hollow when actual nice people like Ginny get regular harassment that’s encouraged by instance owners.

Can you imagine what things would look like if trans women got even half of the benefit of the doubt that cis people get?
