@fribbledom Nice. That looks much smoother than the last few prints I saw (even if there are some filaments in the cape).
Oh lawd, so many thoughts actually! 😆
How much research have you done already?
Figuring out the right first printer can be tough, so I guess my initial questions would be:
What are you planning to print with it and what made you consider the Prusa?
@fribbledom I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting a 3D printer with the wife. The @prusa3D is the one I’m currently considering. Do you have any thoughts for someone looking to pick one up?
The Prusa is certainly a workhorse. If you just want to print things and aren't in the hobby to tinker with your printer all the time, then absolutely go with the Prusa!
There are lots and lots of Chinese clones (Anycubic, Creality, Artillery) that are arguably better value for money (I got 3 in my office), but not one of them works as reliable and consistently as the Prusa.
Also, yay for supporting open-source!
@fribbledom @prusa3D I personally have taken interest in custom ergo keyboards like the dactyl manuform which use 3D printed cases. I have two kids that I think printing toys could be fun. I also like the open source design of the prusa. A previous coworker owned one as well and highly recommended it. Other than that I could probably stand to do more research on other brands and models. My wife is interested as well but I’m unsure she has any specific use cases in mind.
@fribbledom Wow. Impressive. Didn’t realize that FDM can be so precise and nice. What’s the material?
Simple (albeit glittery) PLA.
@fribbledom this is a great result then! And I suppos the supports are already removed?
It's such a neat design, I ended up printing this one entirely without supports.
@fribbledom Fantastic! Congratulations
