!fpens slippery slope part 3:
wait hmm i just remembered that the daedalus/icarus takes #6 nibs as well
what if i just got JoWo nibs with PO and WA grinds and hope it feels about the same as the actual pilot nibs hmmmmmmm
-
i'll try stuffing the jinhao nib into my daedalus some time later and see how it feels like before i commit to the purchase i guess
-
imagine though. one of the pens with a G nib, and the other with a PO or WA nib
…dang, i suspect that i won't even want a pilot custom 912 after this
in fact i might even trim down my collection because i might not use the other pens as much
-
i'll probably sell the two chinese pens, but one of them has a less than ideal flow and the other is a hude nib. dousiyou;;;
-
hude nibs are incredibly non-intuitive. if i wanted brush strokes i'll reach for my kuretake anyway hmm
-
@layakhan the hude nib is okay, it's just that i realized i have no use for it after i actually got to try it. i also have a parker aeromatic knockoff and a lamy 2000 knockoff that're pretty solid though
-
the jinhao nib fits and it doesn't leak!!
this is when i head over to fpnibs dot com and watch the price jump from 4.5 to 24.4 euros after selecting a WA regrind
of course grinding costs money. silly me
-
it's 19.4 if i don't put letters on the nib. well considering one is upturned and one downturned i probably don't need the marking to figure it out anyway
-
i spent a total of ~$190 on !fpens related stuff today i'm so bad at cash management orz
-
@hfaust oh i have enough rice to last me until i graduate, no problem
-
frantically justifies purchase by pointing out that a pilot custom 912's msrp is >$200, and that's only one nib, whereas i just got two nibs and a flex pen
-
@hfaust that should be fine too, i think
-
@hfaust if the nibs work like the pilot ones i think i'm going to buy at most one more pen and i'm set for life. also i rarely buy any more ink nowadays
-
@hfaust i-i'll try my best;;;;;;
