Fountain Pens (fpens) group

when a portion of the ink in the sac dried out over time because the !fpens isn't airtight so you draw water into it to reconstitute the ink instead of refilling it from the bottle
-
today i used up two of my !fpens ink samples
diamine poppy red: not sure if it's because i left it for a while, but there's a lot of surface tension to it. didn't behave with my hude nib at all.. oh wells, i bought some iroshizuku momiji recently so i can start on that instead
diamine blue pearl: i like the opalescent effect when it chromatogramizes. unfortunately the glitter necessitates a more thorough cleaning each time. probably will never get an entire bottle of this
-
also today i got to see the capless raden minamo !fpens in the display case
not sure if it was the lighting or that weeks have passed since the initial thought of wanting one, but it wasn't as appealing to me this time
maybe i'll just end up settling for a normal capless/decimo in the end
-
@tijagi they're normal !fpens nibs
-
chesterfield amethyst stained my demonstrator !fpens , making me realize i don't like demonstrators /that/ much
time to get some sailor sikisai doyou i guess
-
swapped in the WA !fpens nib properly this time. it flows okay and the feedback wasn't atrocious! there's still feedback, but it's more of like a normal M nib or something, which i guess i can tolerate
i guess the main feature that i overlooked before was that you can push the pen forward without worrying that the nib catches paper. on that note it works as intended
it's a good thing i didn't shoot any emails at fpnibs because my issues with the nib were the result of my misalignment with the feed. tehepero
-
what's more likely?
-my icarus !fpens has a lousy cap that doesn't seal and any nib in it keeps drying out
-i managed to misalign the nib and the feed for two consecutive nib swaps in a row
-
switched out the WA !fpens nib in my icarus for the PO nib, and so far there's no flow problems
so it's definitely the WA nib itself
it's been more than a month though, should i email fpnibs. will they even be able to do anything
-
it might just be me putting the daedalus !fpens upright most of the time when i'm not using it, but i also suspect the dye in diamine ancient copper's acting as some kind of sacrificial element because the G nib hasn't shown any signs of rusting at all after 2 weeks
-
@dolus ye, get yourself a !fpens and a water brush
-
i left diamine ancient copper in my daedalus !fpens for a few days and the one or two drops that are in the feed actually turned green, pretty interesting
-
day ~5 with the WA !fpens nib: what the heck why is the flow suddenly crap
day ~5+1 with the WA nib: ran the nib under tap water for a few seconds, works again. i guess chesterfield night sapphire's just incredibly dry
-
@roka !fpens ink brands i would definitely not mind huffing:
-sailor (jentle)
-hero
-
another thing i need to get out of my system before i sleep
day ~4 with my icarus !fpens : the threads never seem to align right the first time, it's kinda irritating
i think i still like my daedalus more..
-
@takeshitakenji wouldn't have minded talking about !fpens with @hag but too bad they're on a limited instance
-
in other news my icarus !fpens arrived. it feels dusty(?) in the hand but it's not a bad feeling
maybe i'll transplant the half-used G nib, fill it up with souten, and see how it goes
-
3 days later on the PO !fpens nib
gotten used to the feedback, no i won't really call it scratchy. really liking how i can write on crappy paper and having the ink behave. initially i thought i wouldn't like really thin points because shading isn't as obvious but i think this is an exception
-
i spent a total of ~$190 on !fpens related stuff today i'm so bad at cash management orz
-
!fpens problems
i want to try out WA and PO nibs, but i probably can only afford one pen some day
fpnibs have individual #6 nibs that can be ground into WA and PO, but i have no idea how they compare to the real thing
dousiyou
