after a while i finally got to try that WA !fpens nibs i got from fpnibs
…i haven't tried a real WA nib, but i suspect the one i have isn't the same. i've heard stuff like "super smooth, even on upstrokes", "same line width regardless of angle", and i haven't been getting that. for the smoothness, it's okay up until the point where the flow is insufficient and it runs dry and starts to have weird feedback. for the line width, it's behaving like a less extreme hude nib—thick lines on low angles, thin lines on high. i guess at least that means i can give/sell at least 2 of my pens then (one has similar line variation with the same flow problems, the other is a hude nib)
i'm guessing the thing that makes a WA nib a WA nib is the extra tipping material which is then shaped into the curve. since fpnibs was working with a stock M nib as a base, maybe there wasn't enough tipping material to work with, causing the issues mentioned above.
so, what do i do with what is essentially a M nib with slight line variations and flow problems. someone give me a suggestion

well there's also a chance that i picked a drier ink and it just doesn't come out as much hmm
i don't know

day 3 with the WA !fpens nib.
it's somehow smoother and has adequate flow compared to the first time i used it. maybe i was just too hasty and didn't let the feed adequately ink up first? hmm
smoothness is okay, but i won't call it "super smooth". not that i have experienced super smooth nibs either (furthest i've went is my sheaffer prelude, probably). definitely not "same line width regardless", it's still a less extreme hude nib imo lol
i'm no longer frustrated with the nib, but i still want to try an actual pilot WA to compare against some day..

@phildobangnz what the fuck

@dokidoki @phildobangnz no, thank you!!

day ~5 with the WA !fpens nib: what the heck why is the flow suddenly crap
day ~5+1 with the WA nib: ran the nib under tap water for a few seconds, works again. i guess chesterfield night sapphire's just incredibly dry

apparently night sapphire's not a dry ink so i guess it might be the nib after all or something

@mono i do that sometimes, yes
