@kitredgrave @trev capitalism is always adapting. That's the only reason it has survived through numerous crises. So if the fediverse were to become popular to the extent that it dints the Twitter or Facebook user base you can bet that capitalists will be working overtime to find any possible way to undermine or weasel into it.
