Firefox uses 500MB RAM opening a site.
300MB RAM just opening firefox with blank page.
Iridium (chrome based) uses 67mb RAM when opening the same site.
And 44mb RAM when opening a blank page.

@johnnynull You sound like a guy I work with. He has crazy amount of tabs open always.

@retro64xyz No tool just watched the process in the process manager.

@marsxyz Yes, good point. I suspect it'll be better there.

@vegos Could also be addons. but I do not have any addons I want to be without, so it's still high. Been thinking about moving away from firefox for a long time, so now seems to be the time to do so.

@marsxyz I did have that version. I do not want google's tentacles on my computer either, which is why I chose iridium - https://iridiumbrowser.de/index.html#about

@lnxw48a1 indeed, it does thread it.
I notice the ram usage is high on that too. I guess it's hard to get around that on modern browsers then.
Even though it's also using a fair bit of ram with pages loaded - it's low on startup, not that that helps. But - one point that I feel is important for me at least - is that firefox feels sluggish on all my machines, chromium based browsers often feels more snappier, it feels faster when navigating around \ typing \ scrolling - etc. (I guess there are some stresstests online that one car run to prove it).
