So, instagram updated yesterday, and now my feed is full of advertisement and sponsored posts. It's time to leave.

@milan I will most likely just add a photo gallery to my own website ( https://stigatle.no ) , and put stuff there instead. I enjoy taking photos, so taking the time to edit them and selectively upload makes it feel more personal.
I have a lot of photos on my instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/stig_atle/ ) , but I'll just download them all and put on my own site, then continue to add new there instead of at instagram.

@grmpyoldman @milan For me it's easier to refer to my website if friends and family wants to see my images, so its just easier and better to centralize it around my already existing website, instead of using another service for my images.

@storm Yes, I've been using it before. The problem is just that I do not currently have a machine available to run it on, but if I decide to run it I can do so on my VPS that hosts my website. So I'm considering this as a option. It's just that it's a bit of a pain to set up initially. Most likely I'll end up running that. I'll think about it over the weekend.

@roland Yeah, I have owncloud, which I use for that. And one of the best features about it (which I'm sure nextcloud also has) is the way it backs up all your photos. Every time when I get home it uploads all new photos to the server, I love that feature.

@denommus @stigatle @lnxw48a1 I think people are getting more open to using non-corporate servers for sharing family photos...
