@sim @rw @neigonemad @panjoozek I've found that a lot of tech "journalists" (among others) seem to deliberately not want to understand Social and the federation. They want to take their shot at dominating the conversation on a single corporate platform. They don't seem to care all that much about encouraging a decentralized platform with a smaller userbase where their SEO tricks won't work.
When they say they want "a better twitter", they don't mean that they want to solve twitter's freedom-of-speech issues with decentralization. They mean that they want to get in on the ground floor of a new centralized corporate platform and establish themselves early on (the "pewdiepie effect"). There's a reason why tech journalists are always hyping every corporate social media platform that comes along.
