     There are broad overreaching laws which allows people to be detained for upto an year if they are believed to be threat to public peace.

     @sajith according to one lawyer, these days the police in TN run a khap panchayat. Civil cases are converted to criminal cases by fabrication. I assume that those who have money and political muscle get their way. Democracy is dead as long as this continues.
