    I like how the video does not try to prescribe one universal solution for loneliness, and leaves it to the viewer to introspect and find out what's best for them. Had a similar video been done by an Indian, it would probably have recommended marriage and children as the only way to not be lonely.

    "Yeah, sorry but the Newpipe project's deprecation of 4.1.x has nothing to do with global pollution. That's the hundreds of millions of people in Africa, India, China and Southeast Asia that don't recycle their phones and just throw them somewhere and destroy their own ecology."

    It's very annoying when the white man in an affluent Western country claims that all those poor Asians and Africans are the cause of global pollution. That is so far displaced from the truth, and it irks me that they have the balls to say such things.

    Please continue blogging about Guix and Guile. Just become someone verbally assaulted you, it doesn't mean that everyone feels the same way. But, it's too bad that most others remain silent when such verbal violence happens. It's happened to me too, and it's not at all pleasant. These days, I only contribute patches and rigorous technical points, if I have any. People don't seem to handle opinions and broad design discussions well. But, to be fair, I have had similar bad experiences with a lot of free software projects, not just Guix, Guile, or only GNU projects. As noted earlier, this seems to be a lack of balance due to the small size of the communities involved. Often, the community is just a single person, and that's the worst kind of community to negotiate with.

    Cleaning up my emacs configuration... I used to be annoyed with emacs' often senseless defaults and the amount of configuration necessary to make it work decently. But, I have slowly come to understand and appreciate that !emacs is really a toolkit of parts for you to assemble yourself an editor. Everybody's emacs is different, and that's great! Other editors and IDEs might help people "get the job done" or be "productive", but I guess I don't really want to be productive -- I totally enjoy hacking emacs and don't mind doing it even if it steals some time from "useful work"! :-)

    Working on a toy implementation of time lock encryption, and discovering the joys of libgcrypt. !ilovefs https://gnupg.org/documentation/manuals/gcrypt/ They should have taught us this stuff in Network Security class, but they didn't. Instead they simply made us memorize various encryption (DES, AES, RSA, etc.) and hashing algorithms (MD5, SHA, etc.) without providing the slightest insight. :-/ I barely passed the course!

    To all those !selfhosting !xmpp servers: Does your XMPP server deliver messages reliably? My server drops a lot of messages, especially when the client is on an unreliable Internet connection. Any idea why? I do have stream management enabled on my server and all my clients (Gajim and Conversations) support it.
