    @skynebula @adfeno @GeoffreyDorne I don't think that's a good idea since web based stuff sometimes are made to work only with non-free #JavaScript (or the not-correctly-marked as free/libre per #LibreJS tests), combine this with auto execution and #Spectre and #Meltdown and you have the perfect "take this stuff and run it without questioning/changing otherwise you cannot easily use our services" scenario. APIs won't make it different since the owner can change it.

      @skynebula @GeoffreyDorne this is why #XMPP is good, not perfect, but at least it managed to be a thing that neither #Slack nor #Matrix managed: be an international standard, being preferred even by federal government organizations - see #Brazil's ( #Brasil) ePING documents. With web and "APIs" the website owner can change stuff and users won't even know who/why/how and what to do with their clients (web or not).

      @adfeno @skynebula @GeoffreyDorne

      Your words are wrong. 😄
      XMPP is used as standard in high - load instant messengers.
      XMPP used WhatApp and Google.

      Total XMPP is now used by more than 2 billion people!

      From government agencies XMPP uses the NSA!
      The NSA uses XMPP + PGP to transfer messages between secret agents.
      Information about this leaked along with documents Snowden
