@shoutcacophony I dunno, this looks like it's overreaching
> The 100 Day Kit encourages parents to blame family difficulties on their autistic child (“When you find yourself arguing with your spouse… be careful not to get mad at each other when it really is the autism that has you so upset and angry”) and to view autism as a terrible disease from which their child can “get better.”
Sounds to me like the definition of Caregiver Stress to me, so this is actually good advice. To pretend that autism has zero impact on friends and family is disingenuous. I don't think anyone is saying that an autistic child can "get better"
> It recommends compliance-based “therapies” and pseudoscientific “autism diets,”
I don't know what compliance-based therapies are, but if the diet changes reduce stress in the person with autism I'm sure it will help their behavior. I know my own behavior can vary wildly based on my diet.
> but fails to educate families about communication supports. It even instructs parents to go through the five stages of grief after learning that their child is autistic, as they would if the child had died.
Yeah I went through the 5 stages of grief when my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Sure he wasn't dead (not for another 16 years), but you have to accept that life is going to change dramatically. Same with when my sister-in-law was diagnosed with CP.
