   DDR5 gives some performance improvement over DDR5 even at the same speed rating:

     If the "PC-xxxx" rating was supposed to reflect the actual memory bandwidth in MB/s, where does the DDR5 speedup come from? Maybe lower latency for scattered memory access?

     @penguin42 Ok, so PC-4800 means that it can transfer up to 4.8GB/s under some favorable conditions, and DDR5-4800 can do so in more cases than DDR4-4800?

     @codewiz Reading the wikipedia page on DDR5 it looks like the bus protocol is very different from early DIMMs.
