@globalc Yeah, and it's more free than the Ubuntu 20.04 option! :linux:
@codewiz Fedora@Thinkpad exists: https://fedoramagazine.org/lenovo-fedora-now-available/
@globalc Both distros are 1 year out of date 😕
@codewiz Haha, nice! I was not aware they charge for Ubuntu.
@b847c1960 Nate Graham isn't opposed to fixing bugs in KDE. In fact, he's the driving force behind the KDE Usability & Productivity goal:
https://pointieststick.com/category/usability-productivity/
He is also addressing Linus' criticism of Dolphin, Ark and other KDE components with this hotlist of bugs:

@codewiz no. This is not the way, especially from someone who favours KDE, which was and still is buggy. I love floss but we need to fix more and make everything more stable and similar to existing systems so we can reduce learning curve for newcomers.
We need to get our high horses and stop thinking that people will adapt to our buggy systems. We have gnome which i stable but people want more options. We have kde which is buggy and people want more stability and less options.
@codewiz after so many years of customer service, i simply can vouch for users and their desire to have the least learning curve and stable environment. Whoever is not seeing that will have to have a hard reality check.
The #LinuxDesktop community (both #GNOME and #KDE) has longstanding issues with QA and being out of touch with the workflows that are important to end-users, but it seems to me that Nate Graham setting an example for others to follow: every day he analyzes bug reports from users, politely asking for clarifications in many cases, fixes many of the trivial ones by himself, and brings high priority issues to the attention of the right developers.
@b847c1960 Long ago, around the time of GNOME 1, Sun Microsystems conducted a usability study with users of various technical skills and published a detailed report.
GNOME 2 addressed many of the pain points in the report, but as far as I know the study was never repeated. The controversial UX changes in GNOME 3 were never backed by a usability study (afaik).
@codewiz oh dont get the wrong idea: i love what they are doing and i like the force behind this project. Still, it is low hanging fruit and it might not be enough.
Give linux to average Joe and then take notes. Linus is not that person and naturally, he cannot see it through his eyes.
Also, there was a list of all things wrong with linux. Maybe i could find it.
@b847c1960 For the time being, addressing Linus' complaints is still better than doing nothing:
