    18% of marketcap gone, and the following list pulling their catalog...

    Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, Queen, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Dave Grohl, Joni Mitchell, & Pearl Jam, Neil Young

    Feels like there was a lack of judgement when this decision was made by Spotify.

      @socketwench
      It never was. They were founded and existed for quite a long time as a name an a general idea of 'something with ads' before appropriating a shit-ton of music from a bunch of scene-groups and trying to be 'all music for free, but with ads' for a while and then pivoting to 'all music, for a price' as they got bought out by the big three/four record companies. Musicians never ever figured in the whole scheme apart from Providing Content.

      @thegibson Spotify hasn't really ever felt like it was about the music for me. And in recent years, with this constant pushing and paying exorbitant amounts of money to that-podcast-guy, it all feels like music was an excuse to push right-wing ideologies and transphobia.

      @mortalhys @thegibson

      For copyrighted music Bandcamp is fair enough. Their catalog is limited, but so was Spotify's not many years ago.

      @thegibson I don't find any source backing these names though? Just Neil, Joni Mitchell and now Nils Lofgren.

      Also market loss has been 8% ($2.1 billion) according to: https://variety.com/2022/digital/news/spotify-2-billion-market-cap-neil-young-joe-rogan-1235166798/

      Anyway, any damage is good.
