Ryan Sipes (ryanleesipes@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 25-Apr-2022 08:24:08 UTC Ryan Sipes @Algot @klaatu I recommend making a copy of your Thunderbird profile, installing beta, and then dropping that copy's data into the beta's profile directory. It will be a 1:1 clone but on beta. Then, if it doesn't work, just uninstall beta.

Ryan Sipes (ryanleesipes@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 25-Apr-2022 08:24:09 UTC Ryan Sipes @Algot @klaatu that's great. Thunderbird is going to get a lot of improvements this year too. So eager to hear your thoughts on those!

Algot (algot@mastodon.art)'s status on Monday, 25-Apr-2022 08:24:09 UTC Algot I run my system in a "stable" configuration. Is there any way to very carefully look at the beta without mucking with my main setup?

Algot (algot@mastodon.art)'s status on Monday, 25-Apr-2022 08:24:10 UTC Algot I use Thunderbird on a Kubuntu system.
I like having my mail accumulate on my home system and have used it consistently (I think) since the days of Eudora.

notklaatu (klaatu@mastodon.xyz)'s status on Monday, 25-Apr-2022 08:24:12 UTC notklaatu @ryanleesipes at work i use mutt because it's simple, direct, and efficient.
At home i use kmail because i have multiple accounts abd i find that kmail handles that well. I also keep telling myself that I am going to eventually actually start using the rest of the kde PIM suite.

Algot (algot@mastodon.art)'s status on Monday, 25-Apr-2022 08:24:29 UTC Algot So it is possible to run them in parallel?
My main concern is the hookup I have with my email provider. It's the older style POP connection, so mail gets deleted from the server when accessed.
That could be a deal breaker.
