@matiiob @Scott acá es mas barato la leña, luego el aire acondicionado tipo split clase A, luego el gas. Nosotros no producimos gas. Aca lo que sobra es campo para plantar arboles. Es monocultivo que es malo... pero es renovable

Is it good at heating your whole home up? -
Santiago (santiago@mastodon.uy)'s status on Friday, 01-Jul-2022 13:26:59 UTC Santiago @Scott i have 2 wood stoves and 1 kerosene heater for backup. The house temp is around 22 - 24°c. We use around 4 ton of wood at 150usd/ton.

Santiago (santiago@mastodon.uy)'s status on Tuesday, 12-Jul-2022 01:37:53 UTC Santiago @matiiob @Scott they grow eucaliptus trees for wood. Each tree gives 10 ton, so i burn half tree/year. In Uruguay i think the forestation rate matches the de-forestation one. Its not like the Amazonia, there is really bad. We also have a lot of forestation for cellulose production

@matiiob
I grew up with a wood-burning furnace. It was super cheap because we lived relatively close to a forest and could easily get a permit to cut logs. We cut it, blocked it, and split it ourselves. My father was a farmer, so it gave him something to do in the winter and early spring.
