    Looks like Gitea might be turning to cryptocurrency nonsense in the near future.

    "To preserve the community aspect of Gitea we are experimenting with creating a decentralized autonomous organization where contributors would receive benefits based on their participation such as from code, documentation, translations, and perhaps even assisting individual community members with support questions."

      I don't see any mention of cryptocurrency nonsense in their blog post.

      From what I understand they're forming a company, so they have an entity that can actually offer paid-for services. This also allows them to reward any of their (already hard-working) contributors, maybe even hire them.

      I fail to see how that's a bad thing.

      There's also the mention of an Enterprise version, which makes me wonder if that'll be open-core.

      I'm indeed curious to see how they approach that part. It's a bit of a balance act, but if done right, I take no issue with that. Other projects have shown that it is possible.
