About Meta on the Fediverse :facebook::geodesic::

I have a lot of concerns about Meta coming soon to the Fediverse.

I fear what this means for the exchange of information that will inevitably happen between us and them.

What it means legally,
what it means technically,
but mostly what it means ethically.

I also fear for the culture we have developed here.

I have deleted my Facebook account 5 years ago and never regretted it. I do not have any other accounts with Meta. For many reasons, I intend to stay away from this unethical corporation as much as I can.

I do not know what my instance intends to do about this, but personally I will block entirely any instance(s) controlled by Meta. I might also lock my account if necessary. This isn't about the people on there, this is very much about the practices of the corporation that controls it.

I sincerely hope their presence will not break the Fediverse :geodesic:

I hope we will stay strong and fight together for the better world we have started to create ✊:heart_cyber:

But I can’t help seeing the arrival of Goliath as a threat to the new world we have built...

#Lemmy just broke 100,000 users!

Right now, it’s the 7th most used server software on the Fediverse. It’s on pace towards overtaking Pleroma and Microdotblog. And we don’t know how much Lemmy growth will happen during the next two days.

PeerTube, the Fediverse's alternative to YouTube, is normally associated with video. However, you can also upload audio files directly to PeerTube. It will accept lots of audio formats including .mp3, .ogg, .aac, .flac, .wma etc.

You can optionally upload an image file as a thumbnail. If not, audio files will show a black screen by default.

Voy a comentar algunas dentro de las opciones generalistas del Fediverso. Es decir, no específicas como pueden ser pixelfed (imágenes) peertube (videos).

:fediv: microblog.pub:
Minimalista, solo seguidores y seguidos sin línea local ni federada. Como un escritorio openbox, ponele. Ideal por ejemplo para quien ya tiene una lista de personas que le gusta seguir y listo. Fediverso modo mínimo.

:fediv: Mastodon: como la versión comparable a un escritorio XFCE. Estable, con algunas opciones para personalizar. Ideal como puerta de entrada al Fediverso, me parece.

fediv: Calckey. Comparable a escritorio KDE. Con más opciones, posibilidades, integración de características, más ambiciosa (La más poderosa que veo es la posibilidad de antenas para detectar publicaciones de interés por palabras clave) y también chirimbolos visuales. Leí que están en plan de buscarle otro nombre distinto a calckey.

@rober Es maravilloso ver cosas como estas y al mismo tiempo ver que el #fediverse no para de crecer, que es el futuro (presente diría yo) de las redes y que cada día mas gente se esta dando cuenta de lo que manipulan, espían, trafican con nuestros datos, etc... las redes privativas y centralizadas como las que ya sabemos y por eso ni voy a nombrar.

Larga vida al fedi, nadie lo va a poder parar, como mucho intentaran si no lo están haciendo ya frenar su crecimiento, pero no podrán con nosotros.
