The obvious recommendation here is to defederate with extreme prejudice any and all #Facebook-associated instance. We know how it will play out, we've seen it happen again and again. It doesn't matter how nice and cooperative they will be in the beginning, this is a power move against the #Fediverse, a move against which it has no chance of resisting if even an inch is given.

In the handful of months since I made the jump to the #Fediverse, I’ve still haven’t been able to shake that knee-jerk reaction I developed at the birdsite where, as I’m scrolling my timeline and see something that looks really interesting, I immediately think, “Fuck, this is probably a clickbait ad.”

Here is my article about #Mastodon, the #Fediverse, and federalism for The Atlantic. I did NOT write the headline, which suggests the article is about Ben Franklin (never mentioned in the article) and Bluesky (mentioned a couple of times). I discovered today that @prologic has added #ActivityPub support to their twtxt server software https://yarn.social and its largest instance https://twtxt.net essentially bridging the #fediverse and twtxt networks together.

If you are unfamiliar with #twtxt, it is a different take on decentralized microblogging that has been around for many years, and it is quite interesting to see it now bridged between this side and that one!

Tuba, the Mastodon client is available on Flathub 🎉️
