    #Microsoft compra #GitHub por 2.000 millones de dólares

    Era un rumor a voces. La semana pasada conocíamos que Microsoft estaba interesada en comprar GitHub, y todo apuntaba a que a lo largo del día de hoy harían oficial este anuncio.

    Para aquellos que no lo conozcan, GitHub es un servicio que permite a los desarrolladores alojar su código en la nube, utilizando el sistema que fue creado por Linus Torvalds (el fundador de Linux) en el año 2005.

    Los rumores se han confirmado, y Microsoft ha pagado 7.500 millones de dólares en acciones por hacerse con una plataforma que ya contaba con 27 millones de usuarios en marzo del año pasado.

    With the announce of #microsoft buying #github, it's a good time to recall that I've started to write tools for a decentralized forge in Salut à Toi (based on #XMPP), with tickets and merge requests implemented.

    It's already working, it's written in a popular language (#python) and help would be more than welcome (check our XMPP MUC room at sat@chat.jabberfr.org).

    Suite à l'annonce du rachat de #github par #microsoft, je rappelle que j'ai commencé à intégrer des outils de forge décentralisée dans Salut à Toi (basé sur #XMPP donc), avec déjà tickets et merge requests.

    C'est fonctionnel, écrit dans un langage populaire (#python) et de l'aide serait plus que bienvenue.

    Github becoming synonymous with open source just muddies free software waters more.

    GitHub cumple 10 años. Un década en activo que ha transformado a este sitio de Internet en la forja de software más popular del mundo, así como en uno de los repositorios de software de código abierto más relevantes de la actualidad.

    De hecho, en MuyLinux tardamos muy poco en seguirle la pista a GitHub, y es que lo que comenzó como un servicio basado en el software de control de versiones Git, ha terminado convirtiéndose en la madre del cordero del desarrollo colaborativo. Hasta el mismísimo código fuente de Linux ha acabado ahí, no temporalmente, pero tampoco de manera exclusiva.

    #GitHub sobrevive al ataque #DDoS más grande de la historia y menos de una semana después ya hay un nuevo récord

    El pasado 28 de febrero de 2018 GitHub sobrevivió el ataque DDoS más grande de la historia que se hubiese reportado hasta la fecha, y aunque el popular sitio de alojamiento de código fue capaz de resolver la situación en 10 minutos, el suceso puso en evidencia un nuevo problema relacionado con el método usado para llevar a cabo el DDoS: el abuso de servidores memcached.

    Ya lo habíamos explicado, era más que probable que otros ataques DDoS masivos de la magnitud por el que sufrió GitHub se repitiesen y eso es justamente lo que ha pasado: un nuevo récord de 1.7 Tbps registrado por el proveedor de servicios de protección DDoS, Arbor Networks.
