Using/fixing them is already giving me enough of a nightmare 😆

Sorry, just needed to vent 😂

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 16:03:00 UTC muesli I'd be curious to read more about that, as my brain can't even begin to fathom how such a system could possibly ever function!

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 14:28:14 UTC muesli I believe it's more about the longevity of your device than speed improvements.

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 14:26:56 UTC muesli Another difficult decision to make this time around... do I even still bother to install an additional legacy boot loader alongside the EFI partition, or will I simply go UEFI only?
Leaning towards the latter.

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 14:16:50 UTC muesli Talking about flash drives... how are your experiences with F2FS so far?
-
muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 14:13:35 UTC muesli I'd say keep it simple and go with ext4, but I'm kinda tempted to check out F2FS this time around. Still reading up on it.

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 13:35:30 UTC muesli I'm writing and recording it as I'll go along with my own install. Will probably post it this weekend.

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 13:28:57 UTC muesli I could finally backup the entire internet!
I'll let SanDisk know I'm a little less impressed by their products, now 😂

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 13:23:36 UTC muesli I guess that depends on how you tend to "casually" fuck it up. What's the typical scenario you're thinking of here?

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 13:22:14 UTC muesli I'm planning to install a fully encrypted Arch Linux operating system on a USB flash drive.
That would allow me to take my entire desktop & work environment with me on my key-chain, ready to be plugged into any available PC.
Naturally you shouldn't trust random machines, so you have to be a bit cautious and make sure your entire Internet traffic also gets encrypted.
Sorry if I made it sound a little too cryptic 😆

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 13:16:48 UTC muesli Time to setup a portable, encrypted Arch install on that USB drive, which routes everything over a VPN.
I'll sync it with my desktop and have a truly machine-independent development environment on my keychain.
Anyone interested in a tutorial?

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 13:05:13 UTC muesli If that's the case, it's the cheapest 256GB microSD I've ever seen.
You may still be right though. At least from a technical perspective.

muesli (fribbledom@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 24-May-2019 13:03:24 UTC muesli There has to be a tiny black hole at work in the center of this thing :D
256GB... and barely sticks out of the USB port.
