Rawr-lickingly good!
Now that Easterhegg 2019 is over, it's time to catch up with all the talks you've missed!
Here's a short reminder that sync3c is a handy little tool I wrote, which lets you download/sync all the conference videos from media.ccc.de:
https://github.com/muesli/sync3c
Use it like:
# sync3c -name eh19
or
# sync3c -name eh19 -language eng
They are all there, yes! More to come...

Should my recent Go-related videos have sparked some interest in learning Go programming yourself, I've just recorded & uploaded the first part of a small series of Go tutorials:

Bit of a boring choice here, but I'm gonna go with Super Mario Land, simply for all the childhood memories attached to it.
"that's not a TK50 tape"
It is an LTO tape though.
It's hard to mix them up I'm afraid đ
One's external and huge, your's is internal and a little less noisy đ
Got handed to me as a present as it was replaced by a newer generation LTO drive. Guess it was my lucky day.
What in particular are you looking for?
The connected device appears as a sequential block device (usually /dev/(n)st0. You can directly read from and write to that with tar.
For example:
tar cvf /dev/st0 /etc
There's also mt-st, which allows you to rewind tapes or seek to another record on it.
A magnetic tape for backups.
Yeah, I hear your pain.
If you restrain yourself a bit and only backup all your private content, you can actually get away with a used LTO-4 drive.
By that I mean: don't backup anything you could easily restore with a torrent client đ
It got replaced by a newer generation of LTO drive and was handed to me as a present: "here, you'll certainly find some use in that".
That's great, because you can do a full backup on an empty sheet of paper đ
In all seriousness tho, I meant more than just my $HOME. I'm actually going to backup an entire NAS as well. More like $ALL_MY_STUFF.
Adaptec SAS controller installed: âī¸
LTO drive connected: âī¸
Tape inserted: âī¸
Time for a full backup of $home.
"Gipferl", "Bergsteiger" oder "Granatsplitter".
Rather popular in the south, but I've also seen them in Berlin and Cologne.
Posted a slightly lengthier reply over on YouTube, which sadly won't fit within a toot's char-limit here đ
(otherwise I would have just copy/pasted it for you)
Software #developer with a passion for #opensource, who enjoys #golang way too much. Made glow, beehive, knoxite, duf and a bunch of other cool things. If it got a firmware, I'll flash it.
