@freemo So, they are usually annoying and aggressive. (since the original purpose is piss off people)

And they love to claim it as: freedom of speech.

But in my theory, they explain the highest level of selfish and self-absorption: I want to explain the world is MY own way!!! Science? BS! The feelings of others? BS!

And they are very likely to get a severe mental illness. I don't sympathize with it.

If they're trolling and bullying a lot, I have my own ways to turn them be totally mentals. 😈

@snow @freemo I’d take a different approach.

I posit that earnestly believing the earth is flat while having the ability to use internet technology is an impossible position. It’s not just incomprehensible, it’s literally impossible.

Therefore, anyone espousing flat earth beliefs is simply a troll and should be treated as such: ignored as long as possible, but blocked if their continued presence hinders anyone else here who’s earnestly seeking the truth.

@retiredguru @freemo I would suggest not basing the wording on who they are but rather how they behave in qoto. Just like accounts that are primarily aimed at advertising goods and services, account that are primarily aimed at spreading nonsensical claims on nature of things with no basis in any scientific theory could be disallowed.

If someone is a "flat earther" or an "icosahedron mooner" or whatever, but refrains from spamming their beliefs in qoto, and otherwise engages in meaningful conversations/interactions I see no reason to force them to leave.

On the other hand if someone is a professor in some respected university, but decides to troll qoto with bogus theories just to demonstrate their superior knowledge and debate skills, there is no reason to let them stay.

I think I can share a set of flat earther characteristics with you.

They are unfit people of modern science.

It's about they want to use the flat earth theory to express their hated towards modern science.

There are a part of humans, maybe a lot, they are totally discomfort about we use science to explain the world, they want to use their own fairy tales to understand world, they did it for thousands of years. Until the Age of Enlightenment. Since that, they can't do it anymore.

And they can't change their cognitive function, it's very likely is born this way.

They are quite useless in the modern society. In words of modern society: individuals are very likely to get/got schizophrenia.

Human was had an open mind for their BS(believe the earth is flat) hundreds of years ago, but now, don't have the space, so they are angry.

But they can piss off people like you for bitching, someone can adapt for the worldview of modern science. It's not about they believe the earth is flat or not, it's about talking BS to piss off people.

So you are an obvious target of them.

In my theory, share the screenshot can let him feel like he is totally piece of shit, then he is going to shut up.
