I will leave it to @gargron 's discretion as to HOW, its his software, so better to tag him and ask what is best. Any solution to the problem would be welcome from me.

π Dr. Freemo :jpf: π³π± (freemo@qoto.org)'s status on Wednesday, 15-Jan-2020 13:46:23 UTC π Dr. Freemo :jpf: π³π± TL;DR Allowing editing without deleting in mastodon would be a significant benefit to the blind and sight-impaired community.
Thanks to @n0btc bringing it to my attention I have tried to be more mindful of captioning my photos. It seems an important effort that only works well if we all try and do it and be considerate. I absolutely support this.
The problem is I have decades of not doing this and posting memes is very much automatic at times. I see something funny and I post it a few seconds later with my own 2 or 3 word blurb. Problem is I often forget to caption the photos.
Now you can argue I can just do delete&redraft, and this is true, in fact if I catch my error before the post has any activity this is what I do. But I find most of the time it is hours later or even days I forget. So its far too late to do that without loosing all the boosts and orphaning any comments. Not to mention it would annoy the whole fediverse to see the same meme or photo pop up in their feed twice, hours apart. People have even contacted me about that complaining because they see it as repost spamming not realizing it is a edit.
The solution I use is to just add a comment with the picture description when I realize. But I'd imagine this is very inconvenient for the blind & sight-imparied as they would have to look through the comments before they even know if there is a description or not.
This is why being able to edit-in place would be a huge help to them, we can add technical corrections we simply wouldnt otherwise add. The easiest solution I could think of is to keep a revision history and otherwise allow it.
Anyway, hope @gargron considers this as a feature soon.

One of the better animated series for sure. Very intellectual humor but you dont loose much if you dont get the math jokes either.

I was tolerant of this up until the point he got aggressive in private messages when asked about if he is a STEM student or professional. So the situation mostly resolved itself, he is no longer with us.
With that said how should we handle people who are otherwise respectful but post almost 100% flat-earth content (basically people who are explicitly anti-STEM)?

π Dr. Freemo :jpf: π³π± (freemo@qoto.org)'s status on Wednesday, 15-Jan-2020 11:08:49 UTC π Dr. Freemo :jpf: π³π± It is not possible to talk about systems outside of capitalism without regulation. Anarchy is capitalism, the default is capitalism. Capitalism only stops being capitalism when government regulation prevents free trade between individuals.
So it is implied.
The idea of a universal maximum wealth goes back to where we started. People having more money does NOT mean others have less. As we covered wealth is not a pie where one having more means others have less. Wealth is constantly generated so to assume there must be harm from anyone having a lot of money is fundementally flawed.

Peer pressure is derived from individual contributions to the whole and to imply that we cant resist it is just incorrect. It may take a lot of integrity but its easy to do.
The idea of regulation to save people from themselves leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
You dont solve these problems by controlling people, you solve it by educating and empowering them.
