We invaded Iraq, on a lie, murdered countless people and destroyed their government, replace it, and then invited ourselves in and put an embasy there.
I would hope that if Iraq had invaded us and been the aggressor, won, destroyed our government, then occupied us with military bases I would hope canada might come down and give those Iraq embassies hell.
So yes, we brought it on ourselves, absolutely. Everyone in that region has every right to hate the USA and every right to fight to get us out of the region.
Well yea, surely if you only know one or two languages there is a barrier if you want to pick one you never learned. But I think most well expiernced coders already should know dozens of languages at expert level. At that point its all about selecting the tool that will get the job done.
@Itbj2 I think anyone who has spent any time looking at his talks across various audiences, even pre-election stuff, can see he has a very small vocabulary and has shown to be completely confused and not understand most basic questions.
Its really hard for anyone to hear what says and not immediately recognize how stupid he is.
More specifically though, the vast majority of things he said, as you claimed, were more about advancing an agenda than it was about truth, truth is secondary.
So if he says he isnt trying to start a war I have to ask, what serves his agenda more if he did want to start a war, people believing he didnt or people believing he did. The answer is clear.
So by your own admission that he speaks with an agenda it should be clear that him telling us he doesnt want to start a war has no bearing on reality what-so-ever.
Basically Iranian protesters (not any government official itself) attacked an embasy in Iraq.
Keep in mind our embassy in Iraq is not there at the invitation of hte Iraqi government. We went to war and destroyed a nation and forced ourselves in... So I'd say we kinda brought it on ourselves.
@CCoinTradingIdeas yup, thats why we as people could/should be a check on that power. If we didnt let corrupt politicians get elected, if they knew exercising power in a corrupt way caused them to loose the vote then they wouldnt have power with which to be corrupted by.
@CCoinTradingIdeas If a person hasnt acted evil in the past its a safe enough bet, particularly if we vote all our politicians in with that mentality. Sadly we dont though.
I'm all for wiping the slate clean but youll still need to elect people in the end or stand a much worse fate
@CCoinTradingIdeas The lesser of two evils is still an evil. It is that very mentality that perpetuates it. Vote for the underdog if you have to, but dont vote for evil, lesser or otherwise.
I have no ethical issue with them making money. I just find Ads to be disrupticve of my personal enjoyment and as such go to great lengths to avoid them. If FB were a paid service I'd likely pay to get rid of ads and not have any issue with that.. presuming they were stealing my data too (I'd also pay so they dont in that case)
@847swingers Hi, I'm glad you picked the fediverse as a new home. I am the Founder of QOTO.org
QOTO however is a place for STEM professionals and not well suited for sexual connections or swinging. Though if you happen to be a STEM professional who is here to be around other STEM professionals and just happen to be a swinger you would still be welcome.
I suspect, however, that STEM is not what brought you here in any sense. If I am correct in that then I can say you found the wrong place. There are other instances in the fediverse devoted to nudity, sexwork, swingers, and similar lifestyles. I suspect you will have much more success at one of these instances. Check out switter for example.
The fact they are making money off it is concerning. But personally i find all ads on the internet as something to be avoided. I dont find filtered ads as any more appealing than non-filtered. In fact, I'd much rather have the freedom as a user to decide for myself if those are my choices.
My opinion is, the quantity of your reach isnt as important as the quality. People who seek out heavily-censored instances like that one are simply low-quality readers. They are likely to bring you more trouble as an audience than benefit.
We see this all the time to celeberties who pander to the far left or far-right (A similar mentality). They say one thing to trigger people and their entire audience base boycotts them and your worse off than before. Best to distance yourself from toxic people like that IMO.
I have never been saddened when an instance frivelously suspends us along with half the fediverse. I see it as a favor, keeps the toxic people far away from us where I like it.
