1. Hospital reception desk: a receptionist at the work side of the desk, several people (an undefined person, a possible nurse, two men in suits) on the client side. The BUSINESSMAN speaker is a man in a suit, with brown skin and short dark hair, gesticulating at RECEPTIONIST, a white woman in her twenties or thirties with a messy bun. RECEPTIONIST: ... and once they're cured, we send them home. BUSINESSMAN: That's wonderful, but when is the profit generated? R: Erm, there isn't any profit, this is a hospital, we cure people, make them better ... B: But how do my corporate mates get rich from this? R: They don't. This is a hospital. For saving lives. B: Super. But who gets rich? R: No one is meant to get rich, this is a hospital B: Sorry, you've lost me. If it's not for making money, what's it for? R: For helping the sick and dying B: No. We need to start again. Who gets the money? R: Nobody. We spend it all on helping the sick ... B: Jesus! It's like a foreign language! THE MONEY!!! WHO GETS THE MONEY!!!

@dansup I came here to escape brands. Well, to escape from the mindset that brands and celebrities and breaking news are all-important. I can get news elsewhere, and I just buy things when I need them to use instead of "engaging with brands", I'm not interested in celebrities unless they're doing something I care about (like write books; but then it's the books I'm interested in, not the fact that they're famous).
In short, if Mastodon turns into Twitter I'm not at home here any more either.
