Installation was quite a bit more painful than it was for #GotoSocial, but to be honest #microblogpub wins in terms of interop with Mastodon.
There's no "user" to speak of so no question of having a client login to microblogpub. (The admin account has a password but no username afaict.)

Installing GotoSocial (https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/) was an astonishly easy experience. Once again: single Go binary.
Change a few settings, Let's Encrypt certs are automatically obtained, and I login using the Web interface at https://pinafore.social. I can see @jpmens here, and he can see my jp11 test user, but the final "handshake" doesn't work.
iOS' Toot app can login, and I can toot, read, etc.
Long story short: this is very promising, particularly for a single user or small family.

"kumar-asshole.sh - scans the inbox for emails from "Kumar" (a DBA at our clients). Looks for keywords like "help", "trouble", "sorry" etc. If keywords are found - the script SSHes into the clients server and rolls back the staging database to the latest backup. Then sends a reply "no worries mate, be careful next time”.
