I can’t fathom treating children like this. Or even adults. They’ve got 350 kids crammed into a facility meant to house 104 adults... and not even blankets and mats enough for all of them. There for weeks and not being given a chance to brush teeth or shower, in filthy clothes and not being treated properly for illness / pests. They shouldn’t even be there but its beyond obscene to keep them there in those conditions.

When people show double standards about ethical issues (Person A goes out with the garbage because of X behavior but Person B also engages in X behavior and is still “in”)... it just shows me that your outrage over behavior X is not genuine. You are using it as justification to make an outcast of Person A, but not Person B. Therefore you have ulterior motives that are really driving your vilification of Person A and you really don’t give a shit about behavior X.

For anyone not paying attention... this is how easily false allegations explode and spread. When this dies down and eventually it will, the abuser will move onto another target. They will continue to destroy people’s lives over petty bullshit. And... they will revisit Angie. And a new group of people will be presented with “evidence” that Angie is guilty of all of these things only it will be outside of it’s current context and much harder to disprove.

I noticed today an interesting manipulation in the language being used today.

“There is evidence of an accusation that so-and-so did something bad.” versus “There is evidence that so-and-so did something bad.”

It’s a subtle difference. And I think I have been processing the two to mean the same thing... but they don’t.

Just... something small and odd I am taking away from all of this.

See the thing is... Natalie Durkin has waged campaigns like this against Laurelai’s supporters for years. This thing with Angie and Peter? You’re hearing about it because they are high profile people who have a good following because of their content. And there are enough people that care either way that you’re hearing about it.

Say the salacious story about him having a “fake girlfriend” is true. Just for sake of argument. That isn’t something a mentally healthy person does. So what do you do about it? I guess that depends in the kind of person you want to be... if you want to be the asshole that mocks someone for something like that... well, okay. I’m not perfect, either, and neither are any of your friends. That sends all of us not-perfect-people a message, doesn’t it?

LB: The thing about Peter Coffin’s “fake girlfriend” is that I’ve seen him acknowledge where he fucked up in that instance. He took responsibility and apologized (numerous times) and seems to have changed his behavior for the better. He still denies creating an “imaginary girlfriend” and I’m inclined to believe just based on the fact that he’s adult enough to admit he wasn’t perfect. But even if you don’t believe? So what.

I will never not have a griddle in my house ever again. This thing is sooo freaking useful. Breakfast? Check. Hot sandwiches? Check. Dinner!? Hells to the yes I can grill chicken, fish and any other kinda meat on this thing, too. Best $20 I’ve ever spent on a kitchen appliance.
