    people who blame others for "not being into politics" are essentially just people who build their identity over ideas they hate.

    its this god damned simple: if someone wants to kill people, they'll do it. that idea comes from mental illness. it's not a passing thought like l'appel du vide, it's a drive. availability of weapons won't stop that drive. the only thing that can, is improving their mental state.

    instead of telling people that this drive is from a natural evilness, we should make it known it is mental illness and that it can be treated. and make it acceptable to be treated.

    by creating these borders between groups of people because a few individuals, you are encouraging extremism. if gnusocial is being demonized by mastodon because we host bad people, then nobody good will want to join. so gnusocial will only collect bad people who echo bad opinions back and forth. instead of allowing open discussion and people to see other ways of thought, you're encouraging bad people to collect and agree with each other undisputed.

    you're just upset that people exist you don't like. you are the fascism you hate. free speech isn't encouraging hatred, it's acknowledging that censorship does not solve anything. by allowing all speech to exist, everything can be debated. but when you censor a certain opinion, people will wonder why that is censored, and even give it value because it is censored. they'll want to agree with the underdog. and so they won't need reason, they'll agree with the censored point because they want to feel like they're changing something. and that is how real fascism is created. not by allowing discussion, but by pushing it into dark corners where those interested and only those interested collect and echo.

    most of the people on mastodon consider fascism to be things existing that they don't like. no, sorry, someone saying being trans is a mental illness isn't fascism. it's just someone being a dipshit. you can solve this by not following them or blocking them instead of complaining to your administrator that they hurt your feelings and blocking the whole fucking instance their on, despite the majority of people on that instance not being dipshits.
