Imagine #libraries don't exist, but there's this person who thought of them and is trying to convince everyone else about them.

-Borrow books for free? People are going to steal them!
-You can just come in to use a computer? Well that's just going to be abused by freeloaders.
-Staff? Who is going to pay them? Why should my taxes be wasted subsidising access to books for people who haven't saved and bought their own?

How many amazing things do we dismiss? What is our society missing out on?

el 15M mereció la pena y conviene repetirlo y radicalizarlo tanto y tantas veces como sea necesario. sirvió para agitar conciencias, fue un chute de autoestima colectiva, contribuyó a visibilizar a mucha gente que creía que no era nadie, tejió alianzas intergeneracionales e internacionales y proporcionó algo de esperanza en un mundo en el que el dinero y las mercancías tienen primacía sobre las personas.

¿Es poco? Lo es.

When we created ODF 20+ years ago, Microsoft first laughed at the committee at OASIS, then made OOXML to render it moot, then rigged ISO to make OOXML a standard, then implemented ODF and now participates in the ODF committee and helps fund its work through COSM.

#Bluesky is Twitter's OOXML to #ActivityPub and it's at the "rigging ISO" stage.
