@moonman important to note that "university of x" is basically a monopoly; while there are other universities, there's usually only one that people want to work at.
same reason why there are very few industries on the map, the auto industry would probably top michigan, but the population is split between ford, gm, and chrysler. so having walmart or a university there is a good thing, since it means the state's main industry isn't ruled by one company (unlike Boeing or MGM resorts) -
