Eventual consistency or consistent eventuality?!

mahartma (mahartma@chaos.social)'s status on Wednesday, 22-Jun-2022 19:35:20 UTC mahartma It just came to my attention, that students from my university built a tool that helps you making web contents more accessible:
"Perspectives - Making the Web Accessible"
https://web-perspectives.com/enI haven't given this topic enough attention before because it was too hard for me to grasp. It's a very important topic and I hope that we all get better at it.

mahartma (mahartma@chaos.social)'s status on Thursday, 09-Jun-2022 11:37:52 UTC mahartma In the last 4 years I've learnt a lot about software architecture and principles. When it comes to implementing and applying these concepts I sometimes find myself struggling with new languages, that don't have object oriented concepts. Seeing programming languages as a tool is cool, but sometimes I feel that German universities don't do enough to introduce students into different language concepts except OOP.

mahartma (mahartma@chaos.social)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Nov-2021 17:37:17 UTC mahartma I’m in the 7th semester of my bachelors degree at a university of applied sciences in Germany and I couldn’t be more disappointed by the quality/level of the lectures. Antiquated teaching approaches and memorising slides for passing exams wasn’t what I expected. I’ve really had enough of it and I’m just angry because it feels like I could have learnt much more by getting a job after finishing my apprenticeship as a programmer 4 years ago.

mahartma (mahartma@chaos.social)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Nov-2021 17:37:15 UTC mahartma My motivation for this semester was based on the wrong assumption that the complexity of the optional subjects I chose exceeded a beginners tutorial on the Internet. And it gets even better. Instead of using the language “R” with open source tooling for our Statistics course, the new professor introduced a new commercial software which only runs on Windows and MacOS. He called it “Excel on cocaine”.
Thanks for nothing. -

mahartma (mahartma@chaos.social)'s status on Monday, 18-Oct-2021 02:04:16 UTC mahartma I just used my Ender 3 v2 for printing the first useful thing! I had some trouble using my 10-year-old Logitech C310 webcam for streaming, since there is no way to adjust focus. After doing some research I found out that there actually is a little wheel for adjusting the lens inside the case (unreachable without opening the case). So I printed this case mod which lets me adjust the lens from outside and it really did a great job and doesn't even look bad!

mahartma (mahartma@chaos.social)'s status on Thursday, 14-Oct-2021 21:55:20 UTC mahartma I just finished assembling my new Ender 3 v2. After leveling at the beginning I printed my first 3DBenchy. The result is AMAZING! Kudos to @fribbledom who helped with the assembly, gave me a 3D-printing intro and all the important tips.

mahartma (mahartma@chaos.social)'s status on Friday, 08-Oct-2021 23:00:59 UTC mahartma I've tested the new "Colorblind Themes" feature on GitHub for 3 days. I have color blindness in the red/green color spectrum (and also in some other spectra but I really can't explain which ones because well, I can't define). Swapping red for orange and green for blue works pretty well for me and I can really recommend the new themes to anyone with similar issues!
