One major weakness that hackers have is that we are terrible at organising ourselves.
To the degree that we do so, it takes the shape of social spaces (conventions, hackerspaces, hamfests) and foundations (FSF, Apache, Mozilla) that promote the sharing of knowledge.
We rarely organise in ways that give us power in the real world. We end up working for the sort of people who were popular in high school, and they get all the money and power.
Why are we such fools?
