Well, to me there is no reason to use anything else then full disk encryption. I could not care less about government \ law enforcement and that issue. I want my data protected as best possible - period.
And saying its not necessary - well, that might be your point of view. Mine is that I want my data proitected no matter what. Burglars, thieves stealing my laptop, usb drive or what ever - I want my data to stay private.
And the best way to do that is full disk encryption. -

It's not graphics drivers when it comes to the login screen and the keyboard\mouse is dead (same symptons as what I had when I did a net install earlier today, usb was dead when I reached the full disk encryption passphrase screen).
The live DVD has a different kernel that lets me at least get things installed, but usb again went dead after upgrade (I bet it upgraded to the same kernel as what the net installer used that also gave me this trouble).
Anyways - I'm almost done installing again now, and I'll try the kernel upgrade to latest before doing any nvidia stuff, so that will let me know for sure what it was. -

CentOS 7 , works perfectly on my other machine, but not on my workstation. I'm reinstalling now and doing a kernel upgrade right after install to latest version to see if that helps, I suspect it upgraded to a older kernel on my last try, and I have no way to get the keyboard working after I did that, and no way to ssh into the machine either so a reinstall is faster. // @mcscx2 -

well, after installing software and nvidia drivers and upgrading the OS it now locks up at the login screen instead, with dead keyboard\mouse.. always something. hah I'm guessing it's the kernel that is causing the issue.. Sucks. -

first machine I bought my self was a pentium II 233mhz with 32meg ram I believe, I remeper paying a lot for a 128mb ram upgrade later on. The worst part of it was that I ran 3dsmax on that machine, took a weekend to render what takes seconds today :) -

the gnome live dvd did the trick! It booted fine, and USB did not die. So now I'm back in action :) -

yeah, that's the first trick I try with these kind of issues, but my pc is so shitty I do not even have usb 3.
heh. Currently installing the gnome live version now to see if it works. If not then I have to figure out something else.
Or just go back to the OS I have on my other disk. It's a dealbreaking 'bug' for me, running it without full disk encryption is out of the question, but I'm sure the usb becomes alive in the boot process just after the passphrase has been entered.. -

Makes me wish I had money for a new computer. This workstation is getting pretty old, and only has 6gb ram. The best part of it is the graphics card. GTX 1060. -

That was with the netinstall. Giving it one more try with the gnome live dvd to see if that helps (all though I doubt it). -

Well, I'm glad I installed CentOS on a extra hdd, because when it boots up on my workstation USB init fails, and the keyboard dies so I have no way to enter the passphrase for full disk encryption..
This has not happened on my other machine. Strange. -

Very nice, I love rendering 3d stuff. I enjoy making tools built around render API's and such, integrate them into 3d software. Currently I jumped ship on 3dsmax after using it daily for 16 years (I still use it at work though), and now I only work in Blender , currently writing a exporter for PBRT - See my two top posts here: https://stigatle.no/ . I got the PBRT book as well ( http://pbrt.org/ ) -

What are you using that math for? -

I would love to develop a ship simulator type game, where you have a research vessel, head out on the open ocean, scan for wrecks (which are scattered around the ocean), make it real scale \ real time, so that you really have to work hard to find one (one 'realistic' mode and one 'arcade' mode with more wrecks and smaller scale, and maybe a 'historical mission' type game where you find a particular wreckage.). Then you can deploy subs \ gear and get up some valuable cargo from the wrecks, ship that stuff back to land, buy better boat \ gear etc. :) That would be something I'd love to play.
And obviously support VR in the game. -

How are you all doing tonight? -

Been testing Centos 7 for a while on my second computer. Tonight I'm installing it on my main workstation. I got everything I needed to work on my test machine, the only difference now is that I need nvidia \ Cuda support.
I'm installing it on a spare hdd, so if it does not pan out I can just pop in my old disk and get back where I was. -

@hikerus that is from before I took over Yaics development, I have not used that feature my self. I have to look into it, im sure that feature could be simplified as well with a keyword list or something like that. And thanks again for the bug reports /suggestions. It helps a lot! -

We went to the zoo this morning, weather was not as good as I hoped, we went home early today, so now it's time to stay home and chill for the rest of the day :) Kids can play and I can code a bit, Marlyn can watch TV, lazy Sunday afternoon. -

@hikerus thanks for putting it there, makes it easier to track. I have replied there.
Also - I will now make a 'nightly' release of #yaics , in-between the stable releases.
This means that 'nightly' will always be compiled with the latest commit on the source server.
This makes it easier for me to not have to make releases so ofte. I'll see if I can autobuild them somehow later on, but for now I'll just make them myself when needed.
I'll do that tonight and update the download info etc.

@hikerus Uploaded a new precompiled windows version of #yaics now, v 0.6-1 .. Fixed the bug @dtluna mentioned (segfault due to maxnumstatuses being stored as 0) and fixed the saving\loading of the status window size.
I'll generate the .deb files tomorrow.
I have updated the links on the site also.
