Today’s game is the massively overlooked Daytona/Ridge Racer-like: Screamer. Solid arcade drifting model, good courses, and bold low poly 3d with colors that pop. I wish I still had the box #dosgaming #retrogaming

@dosnostalgic They vary a lot. Some I think are excellent and some are cheap or haphazard. There’s a lot of brilliance in his maps overall.

It’s levels like this that make me love #Doom2. Lots of tricks and traps without being unfair, an eerie surreal atmosphere, and hordes of demons. The game reaches such highs that it’s frustrating that there are other levels which are just memorizers (even if the “fuck you”s are clever and occasionally amusing) #dosgaming #boomershooter

Nobody ever talks about how Major Stryker seems largely inspired by Sidewinder from the #Amiga. (Think I’d rather play Major Stryker though. It’s adorable.) #dosgaming #shmups

@dosnostalgic Was it adapted to run off something like the modedit or mp.com engine where the speeds and fx weren’t accurate/omitted (lots of weird platform-specific timings in mod format iirc)? Or more like fewer channels to save on CPU?
