@retrosponge Lots of people argue against it being a Christmas movie. My argument now always is: if Home Alone is a Christmas movie, then so is Die Hard. Christmas figures into the plot of both films in near *exact* ways.
Some say that Die Hard is not a Christmas movie because the holiday there is incidental, while in Home Alone the setup of the holiday is essential. Fuck no! It's exactly the other way around. How many people get their whole family flown to France by their uncles for Christmas exactly? That's not a fucking thing! You know what's a thing? A business Christmas party in an otherwise empty office building, an exactly the kind of a holiday event one can appropriately invite their spouse to!
