I asked DALL-E to make a cover for "War of the Synthellects", but I'm not thrilled with the result 😒

Prompt: Make a cover illustration for a sci-fi novel: set in a huge datacenter with humanoid robots wielding weapons in the center. In the foreground, Jodie Foster and Jon Johansen are hiding behind a server rack, looking at each other with tension. They're both wearing bluetooth earbuds.

"I, Robot" is probably the first book I ever read, and it profoundly affected me in early childhood.

Don't watch the 2004 movie, it's shallow Hollywood garbage, with none of the deeper ethical themes covered by Asimov's book.

And Susan is, of course, the Dr. Susan Calvin, the Robopsychologist from Asimov's early novels on the creation of humanoid robots. Nice touch.

It's sad that GPT-4 picked her for as the victim of the murder scene... perhaps we can give her a more central role until that point, as an OpenAI researcher who realized the dangers of this program and was trying to stop it.

Ah, there it is! The name was fictional, but she's based on Ellie Arroway from the excellent novel "Contact"!

Does the name Dr. Bennett ring any bells? It's the only name that doesn't seem to come from a sci-fi writer or character.
