So what are things that are already done for #Mastodon v2.7?

Profile directory for finding people based on interests, new admin UI for accounts, moderation warnings system so you know when and why your account was disabled/limited/suspended by a mod, and a new sign up API that app devs can use to let people sign up without leaving their app.

I can't wait until I can begin removing OStatus-related code from Mastodon. I think GNU social is the last remaining fediverse project that hasn't yet switched to ActivityPub? #mastodev

The more Mastodon servers there, are, the better. The more spread out people are across them, the more the network is resilient to various failure modes.

If you see someone on mastodon.social using a cross-poster from Twitter and never actually posting/responding here, please report them. I think that can be reasonably considered spam.

Saw a tumblr post warning people that twitter might do the same thing as tumblr to artists, which yes, they very well might. The fediverse should prepare to accept new users, more art-themed servers might be good.

I started Mastodon because I believe in decentralization. The more servers there are, and the more people are spread throughout them, the stronger the network is.

I encourage people to join other servers, or start their own.

However! mastodon.social is the gateway for those who are undecided, or who don't yet know about decentralization. It is also my baby just like the software itself. I do not appreciate hostility towards it when promoting the benefits of other servers. Thanks

I have modified mastodon.social code so that if there is a referrer header value, i.e. the visitor comes from a link, the frontpage redirects to joinmastodon.org.

Ironically the event-stream dependency can be easily avoided. I'm removing it and then bumping to v2.6.4 so everyone can upgrade. Awkward situation though, I'm sorry.
