Good morning! Deactivated my personal Twitter account yesterday. And deleted the Mastodon fan page on Facebook, along with the temporary account I had created for it ☺️

I feel like I don't explicitly state this often enough, but I want to see a future where most people are on federated social networks. Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey, etc, instead of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Hey mastodon.social users it seems like Wasabi, our file hosting provider, is currently not available, so file uploads don't work. Should be a temporary issue, and is out of my hands.

I'm curious what effect the removal of likes will have on Twitter's art community, because art posts usually get a ratio of like 50 replies, 1000 retweets and 8000 likes, so that's gonna be a lot of dopamine gone

First you turn "favourite" into "like", then you make "like" do stupid shit, then you have to remove the "like" because it does stupid shit :thounking:

My patch for i18n-tasks was merged! Now there is a check-consistent-interpolations command that verifies that non-base locales aren't using variables that don't exist in the base locale!

This will help prevent translations breaking Mastodon.

If anyone out there with a Mastodon instance below 2.0.0 needs help upgrading, I'll do it

The upcoming version of Mastodon (2.6) will have improved support for so-called circles (a group of recipients that is less than all your followers)

Mastodon itself does not implement circles, mind you, but e.g. Hubzilla does, and any ActivityPub server could.

Prior to this patch, such messages would appear as DMs with a large number of recipients in Mastodon. After the patch, they will appear just like normal private posts.
