I've been trawling through images of old illuminated manuscripts, looking at the border designs, the big illustrated first letters, the weird animals in the borders... There are so many snails! What was their obsession with snail-creatures? Chicken snails, hedgehog snails, bird snails, cat snails, goat snails, even man-snails.

And then there's this. XD

Weeeeeee! First 'proper' piece using the Foundational Hand script I picked up yesterday.

Materials: Pilot Parallel and Rotring calligraphy pens, Sakura Pigma Micron, Ecoline and Diamine ink applied with brushes, and Edding Gold fineliner, on Daler Rowney 90gm calligraphy paper.

Masto? *So* much engagement. So much fun discussion. So much more community.

Numbers don't mean squat if you don't have the follow through. I've never sold a single piece of art through Insta. People on Insta like passively browsing through images and tapping the heart. For an artist, it's a useless audience.

* You can accept as many jobs as you like and there's no time limit on them. Accept them as you find them, then do them whenever.
* Your winch is a great tool. Use it as often as you need to (which will be often, in your starter trucks).
* You can collect and sell all those trailers you see lying around the map. Do this for mega cash, then buy an offroad truck.

I've been building an author website for a friend who's about to launch a book series. He's written 9 out of 11 books, written all the blurbs, had all the covers designed, and has a strict release schedule for them. On a scale of 1 to Having Your Shit Figured Out, he's off the charts.

Still stuffy as heckballs outside. 7:30pm now and still close to 30C. We're forecast more rain so it might well get thundery again in a bit - certainly looks like it, the clouds are dark and heavy.

Had breakfast in the garden. It's warm and stuffy but there are clouds coming over and we're forecast rain this afternoon ^.^ It has that 'calm before the storm' vibe outside, everything's still and quiet. In Wales we'd call such weather 'close' ("It's very close out").
