    A stunning case of sexual predation and extortion has been exposed in Pollachi. A group of men would befriend girls in social media and convince them to meet them offline. They would then sexually harass and take obscene pictures of these girls and then later use it to extort money from their families. This has been going on for nearly 7 years. Their victims keep quiet without informing the police for the fear of societal shame. Also the perpetrators seem politically connected.

    Actually air transport is much much safer than ground transport overall. The few air accidents that happen gets media coverage, while several ground transport accidents per day don't.
    But yes, ground transport is environment friendly.

    Finally, experienced the full benefits of writing comments in a program. I had written a 700 line python program two years ago. Today I gave to someone to use and modify it. I found it very easy to explain the program since it had fair number of comments and they understood it easily.

    I set the AC to one or two degrees below the ambient temperature. It gives surprisingly good enough cooling and also cuts energy consumption. People in my lab try to create a hill station by setting the temperature at 16 deg C, but I overrule with an iron hand! (senior most member :P).

    The reason why setting the A/C temp at just 1 deg C below ambient works is that AC not only reduces temperature, but also humidity, which makes it feel much cooler (see heat index). Setting 16deg C is actually pointless in a poorly insulated concrete constructed building as AC struggles to reduce the temperature to below 24 deg C.
