Political Nihilism has never achieved anything and offers nothing to anyone. Likewise a "ruthless critique of everything existing" only achieves political inertia and smug satisfaction in armchair theorists as the world around them falls apart. How comfortable it is to criticise everyone else for trying to make the world a better place in which we find it, and how paralysing it must be to be afraid of having the same done to you. The Federal Bureau of Investigation started as a government takeover of a massive private spy and thug organisation which made its money off of quashing workers' and tenants' unions and harassing and murdering radical Irish-American immigrants in the 1800s. The same work continues to this day. This is what the FBI has always been and always will be.

sunbeam.city will be defederating with hackers.town

The admin of hackers.town has admitted to collaborating with the FBI.

Although the admin may not be hired by the FBI directly, exhibting a willingness and pride in collaborating with an organisation whose historical mission is to harass and destroy progresive movements (Anarchists in aprticular) also displays an intent and/or complacy in harming the members of our cooperative andusers of our services, and a risk to our general safety.

Furthermore anyone else who betrays similar links or is receiving a salary from government security agencies and similar bodies will be suspended from interacting with our instance.

In order to improve transparency and consistency in instance moderation, I've drafted up a list of rules for the instance, rather than just relying on mastodon.social's code of conduct. This applies to co-op members and non-members alike and can be found at https://sunbeam.city/terms/.

The rules are nothing new, basically what we've been acting on ad-hoc since the instance started up (with the exception of one very important rule which was added by co-operative proposal). The only difference now is that they're finally down in writing.

I've also updated the /about/ and /about/more/ pages to make the existence and work of the cooperative clearer, and included links to the instance rules on both.

I've also reopened registration.

So the winner of this year's #Eurovision contest was a member of the Israeli armed forces during the bombardment of Gaza in 2014 which massacred countless children. She is complicit and a participant in murder and ethnic cleansing. Now they're going to host it in Jerusalem where Palestinians are being forcefully removed and replaced with White settlers.
