There's a thread about this from last week:

Personally, I would recommend hosting the fonts yourself. It's easy to do and prevents privacy violations.

The federation support on Pixelfed is still being worked on.
Hopefully it will soon have full support for following within Pixelfed itself.
Decision makers who have spent their entire lives shielded from personal consequences will never understand the danger we are in 😩 🔥 🌍
Did you know you can follow Pixelfed accounts from Mastodon?
Just paste the Pixelfed account's address into the Mastodon search box, click search, then click on the follow button.
Alternatively, if an account is already connected to your instance you can @ it directly.
A couple of days ago Paula shared her excellent #Pixelfed account:
Are there other nice Pixelfed accounts people would recommend following?

It's like if you want to get homework done for tomorrow, you have to start doing it tonight.
Unfortunately, get the feeling that a lot of current decision makers never did their homework 😟
#Blender is a free open tool for creating many kinds of 3d and 2d animations. They are on the Fediverse! 👍
You can follow their Mastodon account at @Blender
They have a PeerTube channel which you can follow at @blender
They also make free open movies, the latest of which is "Spring" (2019). You can watch it here:

Not for finding existing Twitter friends, not that I know of :(
However, you can find new friends through #Trunk:
https://communitywiki.org/trunk/
For those who haven't seen it before, Trunk is a community-run opt-in directory of people looking for followers, organised by topic.
So, on an individual level, this would be like one month's salary? I doubt the fine would be that small if a person violated privacy as Facebook does.
As long as companies are punished less than individuals for similar crimes, they will behave more irresponsibly than individuals.
Shame doesn't work with companies, it doesn't appear on their balance sheets. Only the threat of losing significant amounts of money makes companies reconsider their behaviour.

If you're using Mastodon on a computer, did you know you can drag and drop files to attach them?
Start writing the toot, then drag a file into the box to attach it.

Ah, sorry, I see what you mean. I misread your post.
Yeah, a non-technical person would probably just want to join an existing instance.
I'm not part of the pleroma development team and I don't use pleroma.
I don't know any alternatives exactly the same as Goodreads, but I'd suggest these as being in a similar area:

@switchingsocial Any suggestions for a #FOSS implementation similar to Goodreads? I've been looking for it a long time and currently managing myself with #Calibre Web
