      Good in theory, but I'm not sure I'd trust btrfs's custom RAID1 (why is it even called RAID1) just yet. Rebalancing only 8TB of data was so painfully slow, probably slower than doing a full RAID resync.

      @fribbledom and that's why I prefer btrfs raid1(cx) for home setups because it just creates x copies of each extent with checksums to multiple disks instead of creating mirrors or striping with parity.

      When a HDD is dead, replacement is absolute simple and fast. You don't even need a new drive as replacement as long as you have still enaugh space and drives to ensure redundancy. Just rebalance.
