My only idea would be to eat it with cucumber. In conversation permalink -

I always have a tub of miso in the fridge. It's almost instant soup, maybe a little healthier? ๐ค

Bernie (codewiz@mstdn.io)'s status on Thursday, 18-Aug-2022 17:29:14 UTC Bernie @gowin I love natto too, but it has a much shorter shelf life than miso, and Japanese grocery stores aren't exactly near my house.

Bernie (codewiz@mstdn.io)'s status on Friday, 19-Aug-2022 05:56:18 UTC Bernie @globalc I went to the local supermarket, but all they had were these "English long cucumbers", and they're huge. I bought only one ๐

GOwin (gowin@social.tchncs.de)'s status on Friday, 19-Aug-2022 05:58:10 UTC GOwin @codewiz You can freeze nattล.
Then thaw (consumable portion) , 4-6 hours (or, a day) before use. Ideally, you freeze them in usable portions, to keep each in unused portions in frozen states.
In the freezer, it can keep for several months, and the probiotic bacteria will hibernate. Reportedly. ๐

Christian Horn (globalc@chaos.social)'s status on Friday, 19-Aug-2022 07:01:11 UTC Christian Horn @codewiz I think these will be fine. We had a Japanese in Munich who produced and sold Miso, and I introduced it to my family together with the long/thick cucumbers, not the thin ones available here in Japan.

Keeping some in the freezer works best for the lazy me.

I was at a German/Japanese regulars table yesterday hinted at this, quite some infos for vegans living in Japan. Must be harder than in USA or Germany, considering the low number of vegans.
