    I usually use 'gksu some-X-app' to launch root graphical apps from the command line. I don't know if that fixes the #Wayland problem !linux

    I recommend using native libs for steam rather the bundled (often outdated and broken). On Arch you just need to install meta-package steam-native-runtime and run steam-native.
