    Just a quick update...

    @jmf continues to fine tune networking and LTE access via a smart phone. things look very promising, we will have a blog post up soon showcasing their amazing work. their so didn't even know a lollipop was deployed as the main internet 😀

    @kemonine has their head down prepping for a bit of travel. they'll be taking a beta lollipop with and are hard at work tuning some setup and management options (more after they get back) for those moments when all you have are a phone and lollipop....

    we don't stop. we just go quiet when we are neck deep in tech and ensuring what we have is as stable as possible.

    We just confirmed you can connect to a 🍭☁️ from Android using OTG via a serial adapter.

    Its not perfect but handy for beta testing and dealing with hiccups.

    @freemo any duck antennas you can recommend would be most welcome.

    we've gotba set of quectel LTE modems inbound and are hoping to find antennas that work well across the LTE spectrum.

    as an aside: we have xmpp and matrix chat rooms open to the public if youd prefer to discuss in mote real time.

    We drove around with a beta 🍭 recently. It did a great job overall but needs some tweaks.

    The GPS antenna we are using for some stuff definitely needs to be swapped out.

    The T-Mobile modem did an amazing job :)

    Today we got about 10 hours out of a 13,000 mAh battery pack powering an Orange Pi PC 2e with USB LTE modem, GPS and more.

    it was happily routing packets for a phone and syncing data via Syncthing and NextCloud.

    if you're used to c/c++ Python shouldmt be too tricky... the major difference between Python and compiled languages is it treats white space as important and does away with braces.

    This is a picture of @kemonine 's whiteboard.

    It's the "basic" form of what the 🍭 ☁ can do for networking.

    There are a LOT of ways to configure a 🍭 for networking.

    So many that if you're not a networking 🤓 it's overwhelming fast.

    We are planning on making some updates to our customized Armbian builds to reduce the amount of spoons are required to get networking up and running as well as to facilitate early-on setup.

    We are going to focus our efforts on the most common use case and take it from there.

    We work very, very hard to make this stuff easier for everyone. This is not uncommon for us and usually when we are quiet much whiteboard drawing ensues 😉
