Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Wednesday, 05-Dec-2018 02:27:59 UTC Lollipop Cloud Now that we have a new Docker image online it's time to jump on the #Introductions train and put forth a proper #Introduction
We are the Lollipop Cloud ( π βοΈ for short) and we are all about lowering barriers when it comes to self-hosted "cloud" software.
NextCloud, Taiga, Gitea, Pinafore, Pleroma and more are on our shortlist.
This project is 100% self-hosted on a 2Gb RAM, 2 CPU arm64v8 server and our goal is to ensure you can self-host a project, personal cloud and more on an OrangePi or similar style ARM hardware.
We look forward to seeing you around. -

@pinafore Docker images for arm32v7 and arm64v8 π
Perfect for hosting your own Pinafore instance on an OrangePi, Raspberry Pi 3 and similar arm boards.
Thanks to @nolan for building Pinafore and the broader community for encouraging it's use. -

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Tuesday, 27-Nov-2018 07:02:31 UTC Lollipop Cloud We are still here... There haven't been many signs that the πβοΈis still active lately.
This project is very much alive.
@jmf has updated the documentation lightly and @kemonine is quietly working on some stuff.
Our offline live have been hectic, busy and a bit rough the last few months. We may not have as much free time but progress is being made. Just slowly. -
Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Thursday, 01-Nov-2018 05:57:41 UTC Lollipop Cloud We are still here. The offline world has required our core team to focus on various other "stuff".
They still use their lollipops daily and updates are planned.
Time and spoons are limited so our usual pace has slowed.
We are here to stay.

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Tuesday, 16-Oct-2018 22:52:06 UTC Lollipop Cloud We are going to be writing up some docs for caching steam content, windows updates and more as a formal how to soon.
These services rely on DNS [poisoning] to be effective.
This is a well know form of attack and in this context should be benign.
HOWEVER
We are using upstream software and DNS lists that we do not maintain. We trust the upstream developers to act in good faith but if they are hacked or decide to be poopy humans....
We are debating how big of a font to use to call attention to this possibility. We are also wondering how much text to devote to the implications.
If you've got the spoons for comment, please let us know. We welcome the feedback. -
Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Tuesday, 16-Oct-2018 06:30:25 UTC Lollipop Cloud plrroma, plume and pixelfed are on our short list. we just need some time....
if you've got an arm board and some time we could use some help getting all 3 situated inside docker on arm32v7 and/or arm64v8

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Tuesday, 16-Oct-2018 06:25:24 UTC Lollipop Cloud Round 1 of testing is complete. @kemonine appears to have stabilized their Odroid hc2 and has begun the time consuming task of testing pi hole and steam cache.
if things go well we should have our first big how to online soon.
the goal with this build is to cache big downloads locally to help reduce bandwidth usage. its not our cheapest option, it was the most straight forward deployment.

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Monday, 15-Oct-2018 06:32:57 UTC Lollipop Cloud @kemonine has some good news!
Their O-Droid HC2 build is working! It features a more reliable power source and 2Tb Western Digital Red hard drive.
The initial burn in phase is complete (hardware is generally reliable and ready for setup).
The next step is deploying Pi Hole and steamcache such that the "big downloads" are cached locally and reliably. Steam games, windows updates and more are on the short list of caching. Nevermind the amazing ad blocking Pi Hole provides.
Our next blog post will have more information.
If you run lan parties, multiple computers at home or similar... this setup is likely a winner for you.

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Thursday, 11-Oct-2018 20:34:46 UTC Lollipop Cloud Did you know we are fully self hosted?
What we are building we use ourselves.
We even have a transparency report that outlines *everything* we are using hardware and software wise.

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Thursday, 11-Oct-2018 02:14:04 UTC Lollipop Cloud Despite Houdini (KemoNine's cuddly Kitty) knocking over the external USB disk connected to out Jenkins Lollipop causing it to crash...
Things are working well.
@kemonine got Jenkins building and publishing our first Docker images to https://docker.lollipopcloud.solutions
If you're up for some fun steamcache is present and can be utilized on a Lollipop per the standard steamcache docs (assuming you change the Docker pull command).
We will be posting more details soon. We are prepping and working on deployment documentation. -
Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Wednesday, 10-Oct-2018 04:19:03 UTC Lollipop Cloud Good news!
@kemonine figured out how to build Docker images with pure python scripts *and* got them working with Jenkins!
yay!
This was the "big step" towards getting some of our builds updated, ironed out and more automated.
This opens up a *lot* of stuff we have in the pipeline and will be sure to post some more information soon.
Right now Pi Hole mirroring and a basic build of Watch Tower are complete. Once they are vetted a bit we will be moving forward with some other builds and adding additional documentation.

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Saturday, 06-Oct-2018 08:59:30 UTC Lollipop Cloud The odroid hc2 is a board we support officially.
why?
because it has a sata chip and works well with bigger hard drives.
we have some cool things in the testing pipeline that leverage this simple, yet important feature.
if all goes well we should have a nice setup for caching steam and windows update downloads soon.
per usual we will ensure our documentation is updated to include anything that passes our testing phase.

We have some major docs updates complete!
The docs are still at https://git.lollipopcloud.solutions/lollipop-cloud/docs for everyone.
These updates bring a lot more consistency with our choice of Debian as well as some general cleanup of things that have been outstanding for a little while now. We hope you enjoy!
Full details of the changes are in the following 2 commits to our documentation code

Lollipop Cloud (cloud@ap.lollipopcloud.solutions)'s status on Monday, 17-Sep-2018 20:12:34 UTC Lollipop Cloud Just a quick heads up!
@kemonine got stuck rebuilding a couple lollipops as part of their return from a trip.
Once they are re-built (and docs appropriately updated where needed) we will be diving deeper into the recent hiccup we had.
We are hoping things will be published this week on what happened. -

@kemonine just took a clue bat to our public server.
It's back online!
Major apologies for the downtime...
Our ops team was in-transit the last ~36 hours or so and weren't able to get in and fix the server crash.
We will be digging into this after the team recharges a little and doing a write up on the blog.
Thank you for the patience and flying π βοΈ
